Hurst Village Society
The Hurst Village Society was founded in 1971.
It is a local amenity group for the whole village
supported by voluntary work, contributions and subscriptions.
It is affiliated to the
Campaign to Protect Rural England
and to the
Thames Planning and Amenities Forum.
Although the first concern of the Society is to protect the physical element and maintain the rural aspect of this area, it aims also to promote greater use of the village amenities and services and to encourage their expansion.
The Society publishes a newsletter at least three times a year which is distributed to all households.
We arrange a number of social events during the year and by participation support other village events
such as the Church Christmas Fayre and the Horse Show.
With more help and new ideas we would like to broaden the range of social activities.
However, our principal efforts have been directed towards influencing the Planning Authorities to protect our rural environment from developers and land degradation.
To speak with authority for the village we need the widest support and new members.
If you are not yet a member we hope you will join us now.
