What's On

HVS runs and supports a number of events in the village. Traditionally, we run the Archery stand at the Hurst Show in June. Of course, a highlight of the year is the annual Dinner Dance, held in December, which is usually a sell-out affair.

The new PRESENTATION EVENINGS in St Nicholas School Hall were well received

Topics in 2016 included: "Red Kites in Hurst" ; "Accident Investigation in the Aircraft Industry" ; "The Crop Circle Mystery"; "Man's smallest domestic animal" (Honey Bees and Beekeeping)

Plans are well ahead for presentations in 2017

HVS Annual Dinner Dance

The Annual Dinner Dance held on Saturday 10th December 2016 in the Village Hall was a sell out and again a super occasion.
The hall had been decorated by the HVS committee and looked superb. The Triple 'O' Band and Soundz Unique Disco provided the music until midnight. The caterers were Fosters Catering from Basingstoke.
A first this year was the rendition of "The Twelve Days of Christmas" - each 'day' being sung by the diners on the twelve tables in turn. The revellers entered into the singing with great gusto!!
Everyone appeared to enjoy themselves and many favourable comments were received including the one below:

"I’d like to add my thanks and congratulations to those I’m sure you must be receiving in droves for the excellent party last Saturday evening.
I was a guest and had not attended before; I was amazed at how much you had been able to achieve with what we paid for our tickets - the hall looked really pretty, the little finishing touches on the tables – balloons, chocolates, crackers, lanterns, holly sprigs etc. were lovely, and the food, which was very nice, was all served hot when it needed to be!! The band and the disco were both great, too. I don’t think anyone could have asked for more and I had a wonderful evening.
I arrange corporate events for my company as part of my job, so I know how much time and effort goes into the organising of these things, so hats off to you – you did a marvellous job!
Please pass on my thanks to everyone involved in putting it together.

Best wishes and Merry Christmas"

What's on in Hurst

In May 2003 the "What's On in Hurst" Internet information service was launched. Complementary to the Village Society's printed newsletter and website, this free e-mail service delivers information about events and activities in and around the village straight to your inbox.

Mailings are normally sent out monthly, although they may be more frequent. Subscribers to the service also receive an electronic copy of the newsletter and other news about the Village. The easiest way to subscribe to the service is to visit the Wooded HIll website.

The success of this service is dependent on support from people who want to publicise local events and activities. If you are organising an event or activity in Hurst, then let Wooded Hill know and the details can be included in a future mailing.

If you are interested to know more about what is going on in your Village, and have access to e-mail, then subscribe today, and get your friends and neighbours to subscribe too.
